Materials Trailer
The Teaching Beyond the Square Materials Trailer has hit the road and is ready to visit your school!
This program for ages 4 and up consists of a Materials Trailer visit to your school. Small groups of children shop at a time, and each child selects five items to be permanently added to the classroom collection. One teacher from the participating classroom can also choose three pounds of free materials. Once all groups of children from a classroom have shopped, the Materials Educators will join teachers and children back in the classroom, where the collected items from the Trailer will be spread out onto a fabric circle that we provide. The children will gather around to discover, experiment, collaborate, and play with their new materials. Generally, these materials do not go home with the children; they are used over and over again in the classroom, giving the materials a good, long life.
This visit is a minimum of four hours and is free for all public schools and community centers. If you are a non-public school, the cost for the four-hour visit is $1000 ($250 for each additional hour). The number of classrooms we can host is dependent on class size. Please note: we need 45 feet to park the trailer.
** Note: If you would like to learn more about using loose parts and found materials in your school or classroom before scheduling a trailer visit, schedule a Materialized Classroom visit.
